Day 1 - morning

The trip begins today!

It's going to be a bit interesting to see how Dad gets to the Newark airport via JFK after a Jet Bluey from Rochester. Five hours to go across Queens, Brooklyn, the East River, Manhattan, the Hudson River, Hoboken, Jersey City, that space between JC and Newark - marshy, industrial, expansive Meadowlands with the highways in constant repair, leading to the craziest set of turns and roundabouts that lead you finally to Newark Liberty International Airport.

I still have to unpack the Suby from the camping trip. Mark will forgo tennis camp this morning to help out. Charlie knows something is up because he is following me around the apartment.

David sent an appropriate sendoff song:

First stop Lisbon, though. 8 hours in Portugal before flying to Istanbul (not Constantinople).

  1. I'd have to rank that version third behind the Muppets and They Might Be Giants though.
